Episode 4.6–Gifford Park Bunch Ball

For six Wednesdays in June and July we are running a free soccer program for the Gifford Park Neighborhood Association.  Our first Gifford Park Bunch Ball (as we’re affectionately calling it) was on June 13.  It was tons of fun to get 22 four to seven year olds out on the soccer field!  The highlight of the night was a group of 8 kids all chasing the ball outside of their field, down through another field into the parking lot and then back.  (Note for next week: teach the kids about boundaries!)  It was great to see all the parents lined up in the shade sitting on the ground or in their camping chairs watching their little ones kicking the ball.

We’re loving these kinds of interactions with our neighbors!  Its a sweet way to be a part of their lives, serve their families and get to know them better.

Norah and Brennen helping me get all the gear ready. Thanks to Sports Authority for a discount on the soccer balls and Scheels Sports for donating two of our goals!

All ready to go!
