Episode 2.10–Galatians 3:4 (our house is rented!)

“Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it?”

We’ve been praying for our house to sell or rent for over eight months. We finally had someone apply in mid January. We were so excited…until we got their credit check back. It was less than promising, and we weren’t sure what to do.

Two weeks later, we still hadn’t made a decision but both of us had been sensing a peace about renting the house anyway. We decided to spend some time in listening prayer specifically about wether or not to rent to them. Lisa came away with a sense that God wanted us to trust Him to open and shut doors and that we could trust Him to lead us. I came away with the reference of Galatians 3:4. After we looked up the verse, we had a solid peace about renting. So, after a final conversation with the renters about the reasons for their credit troubles, (a very good conversation that bolstered our confidence in the peace God had given us) we decided to rent to them. They signed the lease last tuesday with a move in date of end of March!

But the story doesn’t end there. As we rejoiced in God’s answer to our prayer about finding a renter, we excitedly turned to our next task…finding a new home. But we were soon discouraged and confused about how to proceed. So God had to remind us of Galatians 3:4! No, we haven’t experienced God’s leading and provision for nothing. We know that He can and will lead us to the exact house/apartment that He wants us in, in the exact neighborhood we need to be in, for the right amount of time we need to be in it, at the right price for our budget!

So, in the next month will you pray with us about a home for our family in Midtown? As we listen and walk together, God will lead us.
