Episode 9–First Things

So the last several days Lisa and I have been sitting in a conference room with about 25 other brand new CRM missionaries. The training is called First Things and is all about the…first things of CRM. We’ve dug in more deeply into who CRM is, the values that drive CRM and what it means to be a part of this great organization. Though a full week of training is exhausting, we have been doubly reinforced that WE LOVE CRM! Let me just tell you about what happened this morning in our training.

Today we began with a short time of worship. After that we spent an hour in directed prayer and focused on the barriers that we have toward fundraising. Some of the fruit of this time of prayer was:

One man realized that he had a place in his heart where he needed to repent, which he did. In that time, he felt like God was giving him a new name, “Minister of Reconciliation”. After which several of the group laid hands on him and prayed for him.

Another man talked about how he felt like he had in many ways wasted the last 20 years of his life and encouraged the rest of the room-who are generally in our late twenties or early thirties-to live each day with purpose. We then spent a time praying for him and affirming the work that God has been doing in Him and that God does not waste anything! Afterward, he prayed for all of us to live with purpose.

One of the women in our class shared how she felt like Jesus’ hands were tied behind His back as she remembered the way the women in her family have always degraded themselves. She was able to untie Jesus hands and allowed Him to give her a hug and heard Him say that there is no shame in her and that she is in fact a beautiful, capable person.

It was really powerful. Many tears were shed. God did a remarkable amount of healing in the hearts of each of us. This is just one of the reasons why we love CRM.
